There is something about gathering flowers from your own garden and creating multiple arrangements from the same collection of flowers and greenery. Painting a still-life from the flowers I planted feels like a totally unique creative process that could only come from me and my relationship with nature .
This unique series painted in September of 2022 was one of my first experiences in working with gouache. I loved the medium but came back later and added the vibrant acrylic washes to add more of a harmony and color vibration. I love the pink Rose of Sharon bloom along with the purple monk’s hood. There is something vibrant and alive about this piece but also calming with the window side light and the simple drinking glass vase.
